Stevie WonderStevland Hardaway Morris (ne Judkins; May 13 1950) popularly referred to as Stevie Wonder, is an American musician and singer who is credited as a pioneer and influence by musicians from a variety of genres such as pop, rhythm and blues, soul, gospel, funk, and jazz. Wonder's 1970s use of synthesizers and other electronic musical instruments made R&B an all-female show. He also helped drive such styles into the album era by crafting his albums to be unison and consistent, and also making socially conscious statements with complex compositions. Wonder was blind at the time of his birth, was signed on Motown's Tamla label aged 11. There he was given the name of a professional artist, Little Stevie Wonder. Wonder's critical success was peaking during the 1970s. The band's "classic" period started in 1972 with Music of My Mind and Talking Book. The latter included "Superstition" The most iconic and well-known example of the Hohner Clavinet keyboard sound. He received the Grammy Award as Album of the year for Innervisions (1973), Fulfillingnessthe First Finale (1974) and Songs in the Key of Life ( 1976). This makes him the tie-record holder of the most Album of the year awards with three. Wonder is the sole artist to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year with three albums in succession. Wonder began his "commercial period" in the 1980s; he achieved his biggest albums and highest levels of fame.
